Welcome to the Dental Gold Blog. This blog is intended to educate the public about the benefits of using gold dental alloy to restore damaged and decayed teeth.
With modern times comes modern materials for restoring or fixing teeth. Simply because these materials are newer doesn’t necessarily make them better. Gold has always been and still is considered to be the finest dental material to restore teeth.
Hello. My name is Dr. Joseph F. Newell and I am a dentist in the Philadelphia area. I have a private practice and I also am an Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. I teach Restorative Dentistry where my area of expertise is teaching gold restorative procedures. I also belong to the Academy of Operative Dentistry, the American Academy of Gold Foil Operators, and the Academy of Richard V. Tucker Cast Gold Study Clubs.
In the coming weeks and months, I will be updating this blog about the value and benefits of using gold to restore teeth along with dispelling misconceptions that some people, including dentists, have about using gold. I will also try to explain what it means to belong to those academies and some of the training that is involved to produce outstanding gold castings. As an example, I not only prepare the teeth for the gold castings, I also personally fabricate or cast my own castings for my patients.
I invite the public as well as dentists to contribute to this blog. I will answer questions from visitors and give opinions and examples of some of the work that I do.
